Swapped my shaky freehand drilling for this stand and the difference is night and day—pilot holes actually land where I mark them now. The cast iron base is heavy enough that it doesn't creep across the bench, even on harder stock.

I marked a dozen holes on a scrap of cherry and every one came out dead on my pencil lines instead of wandering off like they used to. The mount holds my #30 handpiece solid, though you do need to snug the collar down or it'll creep a hair.

Was tired of pilot holes wandering on my jewelry bench, and this fixed it—the flex-shaft handpiece locks in tight and the quill feed lets me lower it slowly instead of guessing. Drilled twelve hinge holes in brass and every one landed exactly on the mark.
