A No. 5 stake for silversmiths raising holloware, bracelets and domed sculptural forms. The two identical ends carry matching synclastic and anticlastic profiles, so a piece can move between concave and convex passes without a tool change mid-form. The stake is hardened steel throughout, with a central hexagonal block that seats securely in a bench vice. Both working surfaces are brought to a high polish, so precious metal comes off the stake clean rather than carrying tool marks into the planishing stage.
